Coffee Ale Cupcakes

Making these for my DH for his birthday. I'll be adapting a Hummingbird Bakery recipe. What do people think would be the best frosting to use? Vanilla, Chocolate, Coffee or Cream Cheese?

I just made a hazelnut flavour buttercream using the syrup you get in coffee shops to flavour it. Worked really well on top of a chocolate cupcake, bet it would on these too.

That is an interesting idea! Now thinking of lots of other possible cupcakes. I wish I could just go part time and bake cakes on a semi-pro basis Grin

Oh I know! Have you made the mojito cupcakes from the Hummingbird book? They're the best cupcakes I've ever tasted I think!

I haven't got the book with that recipe yet (should arrive tomorrow).
I've had recent successes with Strawberry Milkshake and Jaffa Cake ones.

Made the cupcakes - they've worked - used half ale half milk. Cooling now and then I will decorate them!
