Wheat and nut free ideas

Hi,

I'm looking for ideas for a little lunch party we're having, with a guest who can't have wheat or nuts. I'd like to do two courses, but I'm particularly struggling with a dessert. For the main I thought maybe a risotto, or something with potatoes. For the dessert I thought maybe Eton mess/pavlova, something along those lines.

Any other ideas? Nothing too smart or tricky, but I'm not a bad cook and can handle a bit of a challenge! The nut allergy isn't life threatening so apparently no problems with things that are labelled might contain nuts, like chocolate. In fact, the guest has eaten things with nuts in accidentally and has been fine, it's a minor allergy that isn't triggered easily.

Thanks!

For the dessert I'd go for homemade ice cream, whatever flavour takes you fancy, if you dont have an ice cream maker look for a no churn recipe that has a high double cream content - such a treat and such a nice way to finish a meal. We made Nigel Slater's marmalade and choc ice cream last week - it was lovely, no need for anything else and because of the marmalade, the ice cream doesn't set in a brick like fashion, the texture is perfect.
