Ready-made short crust pastry

I fancy trying my hand at a pie and bought some of this. The recipe on the packet only uses the pastry for the top as far as I can see. Can you use it on sides / underneath, or does that get you into blind baking territory?

And any tips... I'm new to this ready made pastry game (or any type of pastry game...)

It depends on the type of pie you are making; if it is fatty or sugary it should be fine without blind baking, if it is and egg based filling it would need blind baking.

I would just give it a go; the worst that can happen is the pastry goes soggy, in which case don't serve it and just serve the top.

Thanks Frenchfancy, that makes sense, I guess it depends on the liquid content of your filling. Might also depend on how much pastry I have when I roll it out too.
