My oven is broken for the near future as cant afford to fix or replace. Please inspire me with meal ideas that don't involve the oven....have a microwave, hob and crockpot yet most days my oven is on! Thanks in advance Smile

you can do loads with a crockpot. what do you cook in the oven? someone will be able to tell you how to do it in your crockpot!!

I hardly ever use my oven - usually for roasts and baking, so I wonder what you cook that needs an oven. Have you got a griddle pan? You can cook most things on that that require a grill.

We eat a lot of pasta, stir fries, soups, salads, risotto etc, none of which require a grill. Also, perhaps it is worth looking for a "One Pot Recipes" recipe book or online for one pot recipes.

MN slow cooker recipes here. Yesterday I made chakchouka in the slow cooker. recipe here. Instead of chillies I added some baharat spice mix (Tesco). The eggs were cooked after 10 minutes. It freezes well too.

I did a roast chicken from frozen in the crockpot yesterday. I was prepared for it not to work but having here here on MN that it would be fine I gave it a go. It cooked really well and I then used the meat (very moist) for enchilladas, moroccan chicken and then the little bits left went into a pasta bake (which you can also do in the crockpot)

Oh I guess it's just me who has my oven on everyday Blush Well I have a child who will ONLY eat potato products so oven tends to be on for him anyway (he's currently going thru assessment for sn) so I do my meats in the oven, roast a lot of veg, ratatouille(sp?) stuffed peppers/mushrooms, pasta bakes etc Think its just become a habit to use the oven since its on for ds anyway.

How about parboiling some potatoes, slicing them and sauteeing them in a pan instead?

You can make a pasta "bake" by cooking everything in pans, mixing it together, sprinkling with grated cheese and finishing it off in the microwave. I'm sure you could make stuffed mushrooms in the microwave as well.

Although I don't use my oven as much as you do I realise how much of a pain it must be. I hope you get it sorted soon.
