birthday cake suitable for a picnic

Hi,

My little girl is turning one next week and I'm having a picnic to celebrate. Everyone is bringing their own food, but I'd like to provide a few bits and bobs and some sort of cake. Any ideas?

How about a load of cupcakes? Easy to eat on picnic. Or, any sponge would be fine really as long as it doesn't have too much icing which makes it difficult to eat.

This is probably too late now, but maybe for next time... I made these for a charity bake-sale at work the other week, and since then I've had loads of FB friends nab the recipe off of me to make with and for their kids, and they seem to have gone down a treat, rather than baking a huge cake...

What about a lovely lemon drizzle? Nice flavour but no melty buttercream/icing if it is hot.
