How far in advance can I make butter icing?

Making a cake for a big birthday do but will be on holiday for a week until the morning of the big day. Am making and freezing the sponge but can I make the butter icing a week before and refrigerate? For various logistical reasons it would be easier to do it in advance but not if it's going to kill everyone!

Buttercream icing will keep in the fridge (in an air tight container) for a couple of weeks.

I thought so, thanks. I do the same, I've generally always got some in the fridge but it's only us that eat it, not proper people :o
