I need an impressive, delicious, sturdy cake (not chocolate!).

Family reunion on Sunday. I offered to bring cake for about 30 people. I am already making a chocolate cake for 15 people, so I need another cake of a similar size that could resist a 1-hour journey on bumpy roads. I am quite good at baking so I would like to show off a little! Grin

Hmm, lemon drizzle loaf, coffee cake, carrot cake are always popular?

Lemon drizzle (Delia or Mary Berry)

Nigella's Courgette cake

Lemon sounds like a good idea. Is there a way to make it look less plain, IYSWIM?

Someone linked to this apple cake earlier today. I'm hoping to make it this weekend for my lovely MIL's visit.
