How long will a hard boiled egg keep for (in its shell, in the fridge)?

As the title says really Grin

My dad buys them, ready-hard-boiled, in Tenerife and they have a really long use-by date (weeks, rather than days). However, the shells are coated in something and not sure if this helps.

Anyone know how long they can be kept in the fridge after boiling?

I keep them for about 4 days max. No idea if they would be safe after that though.

I wish you could buy ready boiled eggs in this country! Would be a perfect low carb snack when out and about!

Ok, thanks. I boiled 4 on Tuesday and had the last one today but wondered if they'd be ok a bit longer. I know they don't take long to boil but if I'm going to stick to healthy eating, it has to be as simple as possible Grin

I know! My dad goes through stacks of them...they don't even have to be refrigerated!!

I wouldn't usually keep them more than 24 hours in the fridge.
I find that they are not so pleasant to eat after that.
I ate one for lunch yesterday that I had cooked wed tea time and which had accidentally not been refrigerated. It wasn't the nicest egg I have ever eaten but I am still here to tell the tale
