Greek yoghurt and honey. Yummy aubergine dip - or is that middle Eastern?

Spanokopita (spinach and cheese pie made with filo pastry) and baklava (very sweet honey and nut pie made with filo pastry) if you're feeling creative (not that hard to do with a pack of frozen filo)

Tsziki (sp) so yummy with fresh bread. Also just a simple tomato and feta salad with onions and a light dressing.

waitrose also do a greek selection, with the stuffed leaves etc.

oxocube · 19/05/2006 18:17

lamb kebabs? anything with lamb in fact!! Nigella does a Greek lamb stew which is only Greek in as much as it is sprinkled with oregano and feta as far as I remember. Sounds fun!

oxocube · 19/05/2006 18:18

Oh and Kalamata olives of course

bubblez · 19/05/2006 18:47

Lots of Tatsziki (cucumber and yoghurt dip) Kiofdethes (greek meatballs v.nice) and if you like them Koubes (topedo shaped pastry filled with mince) lovely with a squeese of lemon and come in minatures...

bubblez · 19/05/2006 18:49

tzakistes (green olives marinated in olive oil garlic and lemon....)

bubblez · 19/05/2006 18:53

There is a lot to greek cooking 24 and still can only master the basics.... but there are some very good greek bakers shops or take out restaurants that will do all the hard work for ya... Grin or if your me then mothers and auntys do fine Grin

Just looked in my Greek Cookery book, in addition to the things other people have mentioned you could try baby meatballs, calamari, stuffed peppers, making a pastitsio are chopping it into smaller portions ( quite easy to make). Roasted peppers I think you can get them in jars where the pickles are in Sainsburys & Waitrose.
