So I made the cream egg cakes..

But I used cadbury's caramel buttons instead. Anyway the cakes were nice but the choc bits sunk to the bottom and stuck to the paper cases. Help?

Roll the buttons around in some flour before putting in the mixture.

If flour will stick to the choc try that too. But yes, a stiffer mix will hold the chocolate better!
