was going to be doing shepherds pie tonight, just got the tatties out and they are baking potato's (bogger!) i do have some sweet potato but that won't go will it, do i do the mince and have jacket pots or mash sweet potato or should i scrap that idea and have mince and dumplings with veg?

can't you still boil and mash the potatos even though they are baking potatoes?

I always use baking potatoes for everything. It cuts down on the peeling. Just peel them and cut them up.

of course you can mash them. what's the worst that cld happen??

doing dumplings and jacket tattie, just get rid of the skin and mash with butter, hey presto mashed potato!

baking potatoes are very good for mash as they are 'fluffy' raather than 'waxy' IME

Sweet potatoes are lovely on shepherd's pie, especially if you put a bit of chilli in with the mice. Yum!

No, no - mice are nice. Just add plenty of chilli!

I mix potato and sweet potato together and mash - delicious. Never tried mice so can't comment on that one...

or sweet potato alone is also nice for mash. add an apple or two if you've got one. tis luverly...
