Smoked tuna recipe

Being so disorganised, I clipped a recipe from last weeks Times magazine ( Saturdays) that involved smoked tuna, and I can't remember what else. Have bought the smoked tuna and now can't find the recipe. Do any of you Mumsnetters still have it? It was in the non-cooks cook section. I would be eternally grateful!

Since I've not done my recycling for weeks, I might be able to find this....

Ahem... rather embarrassed to admit I found this under the sofa where I kiked it during a half-ar$ed tidying session...

Smoked Tuna & Chickpeas. Serves 2
Put a tin of tomatoes, a tin of smoked tuna and a tin of chickpeas in a saucepan. Season with 1-2 teaspoons of sugar, to mellow the tomatoes, and plenty of black pepper. You can also add a tablespoon of olive oil, a slosh of wine and half a teaspoon of harissa paste; a finely chopped garlic clove is also good. Simmer for 5 minutes until the sauce is rich and thick. Perhaps stir in some chopped flat leaf parsley at the end. Serve with couscous, pasta or baked potatoes.

A couple of questions though;

  1. What the hell is harissa paste? and
  2. Why would a non-cook have it in their cupboard?

Never mind harissa paste, I've never seen cans of smoked tuna

SoupDragon · 25/01/2004 22:37

me neither but at least I know what they are.

Soupdragon you are a star! Thanks so much. On a search, I found the smoked tuna in Tesco and had Harissa paste (bought in Somerfield) already in the cupboard. I'd bought that when I picked it up to see what it was and found a REALLY easy chicken recipe on the back. Thanks again, smoked tuna for supper tomorrow- will let you know what it's like

Harissa is a spice mixture from North Africa, it's very hot.

Very tasty! Think this recipe will become a bit of a fixture in this house.
