A friend has just brought me some delicious smelling rhubarb from her garden.. but i don't know what is best to do with it? I've not cooked / baked with rhubarb before?

What do you recommend?

crumble! easy peasy

strip off outer layers
put in a pan wiht a bit of water and some sugar
it will mush down
chuck in a dish
put crumble mix on top
bake!

you could make rhubarb crumble or mix of rhubarb and apple
rhubarb muffins
stewed rhubard ( cut up boil with sugar to taste in boiling water - v nice
cut it up over yogurt and honey

I poach mine in some orange juice and have it for b/fast with muesli and plain youghurt.
Lucky you to have the home grown stuff.

Jamie Oliver suggests a creme brulee with rhubarb.
Personally, I like it the simplest way - stewed with custard.

Angry How VERY dare you!!!!!!!!!

Littlefish · 11/05/2006 21:24

Make some flapjack mixture.

Spread half in the bottom of a baking tin
Spread a layer of cooked rhubarb on top
Spread the other half of the flapjack mixture on top of the rhubarb
Cook!

Delicious
