For pretty basic baking equipment?

I'm a fairly new baker and need to get myself some better equipment. I only seem to have tiny bowls and not much else! Don't want to spend a fortune so any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Also, what equipment would you say is a complete waste of time?
