Tin foil?

I've always wondered...should tin foil be shiny side towards the food when cooking or dull side facing food? What's the difference? I know MN will know the answer...TIA

The shiny side reflects the heat, so in theory it helps the food cook.
If you use it shiny side out it will reflect heat away and the food will cook slower, in theory.
