Diluted peach juice for 6 week old?

Does anyone know if it's ok to give diluted peach juice to a 6 week old? It's been recommended as an alternative to cool boiled water if they won't settle, but I didn't think they were allowed anything but milk and water until they were about 6 months old?

Well they are fed fennel tea, camomile tea etc from birth over here but no info in peach juice.

i wouldn't, it's just setting him up to refuse water later on. if he won't settle on milk I don't think juice will help.

I'd stick with milk, Rhubarb - but have heard that weak fennel tea in small quantities can help settle a colicky stomach. I've never tried it.

Considering that orange juice and clear tomato juice are both used to get things going in constipated babies, I would steer well clear of any juices at all at this age. Fennel tea and chamomile tea are fine.

I used it with dd1 from when she was about 8 weeks old (same recommendation I think!) but I think that this time round I won't. I used the ones from Boots that did state from 4 weeks but then again I don't beleive anything babyfood makers say!

Gina Ford advises diluted peach juice from 8 weeks, so it MUST be a good idea.
Sorry, seriously, I don't think it is a good idea. Even plain water is out (too hard on the kidneys) when they're very young.

I've tried plain boiled water and the flavoured baby waters from boots and found that ds didn't really like them much. However I did perservere and found that if he was really thirsty he would drink some. He was very constipated when I changed his milk so I tried to give him extra fluids at a time shen he was settled and happy. He would squirm a bit but did take some.

I've been giving him cool boiled water from 6 weeks old to keep him going until after he's had his bath, and to settle his tummy if he has wind. Luckily he doesn't seem to mind it so I guess the peach juice doesn't apply now. I would probably not go down that road though, after reading these replies and thinking it through, 6 weeks does seem very young to be giving them any hint of fruit juice.
Thanks for the info!
