Morning all! I was just standing here working out what the meal I cooked for my family last night cost

Me, dh and 2 yr old dd

Scampi £2
Sweet corn cobs £1
Potato croquettes 50p

Less than £1.20 each

Not bad really, and it made me wonder what I spend on other meals so am going to add up...

Other meals with meat, etc obviously more pricey

What did last nights dinner cost you? Any good food deals / recipe ideas you can share?

Massive chilli last night..

1kg pork/beef mince £2.06
2 cans of kidney beans £0.64
1 can sweetcorn £0.32
2 cans of tomatoes £0.62
4 stock cubes (24 for a £1) so that's £0.17 roughly
tsp hot chilli powder 2 tsp chilli powder £0.05
chilli £0.10
tbsp balsamic vinegar £0.10 (guessing)

Rice bought 10kg basmati for £9.99 so I'm guessing £1.00

soooo £5.06 altogether..would have been £6.06 but the mince was on offer when I bought it.

That's doing tea tonight too so that's another £1 of rice.

So that's £6.06 divided by 6, so £1.01, divided by 2 for two days is 50.5p Grin

Last night I cooked only for myself so easy to work out, I made pea and Parmesan risotto

Risotto rice 10p (on offer)
Handful peas 10p
Stock cube 8p
Frozen basil 10p
Bit of Parmesan (tiny bit) 20p

So 58p.

Left over lamb shoulder. Not sure how much it was. I paid £7 for half a shoulder and it was about a quarter of that. So say £1.75. Jar of korma sauce 79p. Frozen sweet corn and peas, not sure say 30p. Rice about 50p and veg stock cube are they about 10p?

Is that around £3.36? Less than a £1 each. Now if we could manage that every night....

Last night's dinner:

1/2 cup basmati rice
1 small head spring greens
too much butter
grating nutmeg
tablespoon of pesto
squirt of sriracha

I would guess probably around the same price as storm.

Last nights dinner for me, DP and DD1 and my lunch today.

Lentil and chorizo stew.

Chorizo £2
1/2 bag lentils 0.55
1 onion 0.30
2 tins tomatoes 0.62
2 stock cubes 0.40 (approx)
Spices from cupboard 0.20 (approx)

£4.07 so roughly £1 each.

2.00 each for 4 tonight ... Bit more pricey tonight
