Hi, I only have unsalted butter and I really fancy some shortbread. Will it taste the same or should I add some salt?

I would add salt or it'll taste like something is missing..

How much would you add? A pinch or more?

A pinch should be fine - I'd taste it to see if it needed more.

Thank you Smile

Yes a pinch should be plenty, just wondering do you make your shortbread with semolina, my recipe says to add it but I never do, mainly because I keep forgetting to buy it. Would it make a big difference to the taste.

Sorry just realised this was posted a few days ago. The shortbread will have been well and truly enjoyed by now Smile

Always use semolina, cornflour or rice flour - it gives a crumblier biscuit.

Thanks snoworneahva, I'll get some and give it a go.

Semilena? I've never heard of using that before. I'll try it next time Smile
