How to make a sauce with cherries in brandy?

I have a jar of cherries in brandy - how can I make a sauce out of it to go with a scrummy chocolate cake?

Put it in a pan, bring it up to a gentle simmer. Mix a teaspoon of cornflour with a couple of teaspoons of water then mix into the simmering cherries. Stir for a couple of minutes. Voilà, sauce.
