how would you make a Victoria Sandwich a bit festive?

apparently, dd1 wants a Victoria Sandwich for her birthday cake. I am rubbish at Proper Cake Decorating, but can always manage to chuck a lorryload of smarties and cadbury's fingers at a chocolate fudge cake so it looks sufficiently jolly. how would you tart up a plain old Victoria Sandwich?

Edible glitter! Anything looks fantastic with edible glitter on it.

Jamie Oliver's Great Britain book has a Victoria Sandwich with crystallised rose petals on top which looks beautiful and would be pretty festive!

Ah, but can you do enough glitter?

fill with whipped cream and strawberries/raspberries, top with strawberries
some kind of drizzled icing?
go retro and use something as a stencil and then sift icing sugar all over it? I was going to do this for a friend recently and just do a flower/star. dh decided that wasn't good enough and cut out an entire stencil from paper saying "happy birthday NAME" and surrounded by stars. once we'd done the icing sugar and peeled off the stencil it looked amazing.
and obviously, as seeker says, glitter.
