how do i cook kidney.beans?

without putting them in the huge pot of bolognaise i want to turn into a chilli......no-one but me likes them so seems a bit mean to make everyone fish out kidney beans

Try making beanburgers. Mash 8oz of cooked kidney beans (if canned, drain really well) with a few tablespoons of oats, some grated carrot, beaten egg and plenty of herbs, spices and seasoning. Set aside for about 20 minutes so that the oats absorb the egg. Then shape into patties and fry on both sides until golden and holding their shape. Lovely...

For a quick side dish, I often fry a finely chopped onion, with a tin of kidney beans and a tin of sweetcorn. Sometimes add some finely chopped red pepper if I have it to hand. Soften the onion (and pepper if usin) first, then add everything else and cook on a low heat for about 10m. Add whatever spices take your fancy: a bit of cayenne pepper, or a tbspn of fajita mix seasoning, or it's good just with salt and pepper too.
