Hi, any suggestions on how to cook pork belly slices so they aren't fatty? All recipes are for a piece of belly pork, not for sliced. Im not sure it will come out the same....They've been in the freer for yonks and today's their day!
Thanks!

I usually trim the easy-to-get-to fat off and slow-cook them as a goulash. It's delicious!

Sticky pork belly.
3 tbsp light muscovado sugar
3 tbsp treacle
3 tbsp tomato purée
1 onion , whizzed in a food processor
3 garlic cloves , crushed
1 tbsp dried oregano
1 tbsp ground cumin
1 tsp crushed dried chillies
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp allspice

Roast for 3 hrs on a low heat Gas 2. If they don't crisp up stick them under the grill just before serving. They shouldn't be fatty as the fat should absorb into the meat. Serve with plum sauce, rice and salad.

Alternatively do it Caribbean style with some jerk seasoning. Follow cooking time above. I do this with mashed sweet potato or sometimes rice and peas (red kidney beans), lime juice and yoghurt and coriander.

I normally roast in a lowish oven say gas 3/4 for for a 1hour or so.
then turn up to crisp up.

Marinating as I type Jamnan - smells great :)
