I recently made a lovely simple smootie from the cbeebies comic and now DS2 is itching to make some more. I dont have a liquidiser but used my little blender/chopper thing I bought for weaning which worked fine.

the one I made was:

200ml apple juice
14 strawberries
2 kiwi fruits

Any other suggestions before I go shopping?

Thanks

NB dairy free.

blueberries, bananas, apple juice.

tbh, I just chick in a load of fruit and some applejuice and whizz it up. Experiment!!

Bananas are fab for any smoothie because they add thickness and sweetness. Soya milk is great if you need dairy free, but don't try it with soya milk and acidic fruits such as pineapple or orange because it curdles. Other than that I agree with SoupDragon, just chuck in whatever you have in the house or can get cheaply. :)

thanks you two. I am not very good with experimenting. My experiements are usually disaterous. We are also soya free frannyandzooey. (Whenever I see your name I think of the restaurant Franky and Benny! no offense meant of course!!)

Ah, sorry about the soya thing.

No that's fine about the name, whenever I see yours I think "what the hell does that say?"

naswm is an accronym of my original MN name. (NotAStrongWomanMe) Bet you wished you hadn't asked now! I think of it as naswam, if that helps.

No, that makes sense now, and I will remember it ( it always looked like some anagram I could never figure out before :))

If you venture into the freezer section of the supermarket you'll find frozen berries which are just fab in a smoothie. They make it all thick and cold like a junk-food milkshake but with good stuff instead of the junk.
