OK lovely people, please share your insperational idea's for minced steak, other than bolognese, chilli, or cottage pie

meatballs? burgers? Stuffed tomato? stuffed pepper?

Black bean beef stir fry

Steak and kidney/mushroom/ale pie

I have just made pastitso yum

Golden Beef Rice:
1lb minced beef
8 oz long grain rice
1 pt beef stock
1 tsp tumeric
3 oz flaked almonds
3 oz sultanas
3 oz frozen peas or sweetcorn

Dry fry mince til browned. Add rice, stock & tumeric, Simmer covered for 20mins til nearly all the liquids absorbed, stirring occasionally. Add the remaining ingredients.

Spanish Mince:
1 onion, sliced
2 tbsp oil
2 garlic cloves, crushed
1 1/4lb mince
2 eating apples, grated
2 oz raisins
1/2 pint beef stock

Fry the onion in the oil fpr 2 mins, add the garlic and mince and cook til lightly browned. Stir in the grated apple, raisins and beef stock. Cover and simmer gently for 20mins. Add thickly sliced stuffed olives if liked. Serve with crusty bread and salad.

For horse d'oevres I'd suggest hoofing a bit of meat in a pan and oh I can't be bothered

Persian lubia (green bean) rice. Fry an onion & garlic, chop green beans into 2cm pieces & fry too. Add mince, fry til browned, add good dollop of tom puree, teaspoon of tumeric, 2 tsp of cinnamon, salt & pepper and enough water to make it moist. Bubble away gently til most of the water has gone. Stir through cooked basmati rice & serve or if you have the time par boil & steam the rice in the Persian way with slices of potato at the bottom and the meat mixturelayered between the rice as it steams.

Fried in soy sauce, garlic, ginger and served in little gem lettuce leaves

pastitso Won yesterday, and was fantastic, i have to say you are a wonderful lot, and i shall be trying more ideas, very very soon.
