Hi

I really need a lovely flapjack recipe for school! I want one that is really buttery and chewy/gooey rather than the dead sweet/biscuit type! Any ideas/help will be gratefully received.

Thank you! x

I have used this one for years and it never fails to be chewy and very yummy:

You can use butter or oil instead of margarine, just use 120 g instead of 150 g. And you don't need to use 2 types of oats, just use normal oats. I usually add a few handfuls of sultanas as well.

I saw this on Nigella's website:

Pour oats into the tin you want to use remembering that deeper = chewier.

Weigh oats which is your 4/4 or 100% figure.

Then melt 3/4 weight of butter with 1/2 weight of sugar and 1/4 weight of syrup. Stir in oats and bake at 180ish. I find I only leave them 20 mins or so.

Search for Soupdragon's recipe. The best, stickiest, most delicious flapjack in the world.
