Just burnt a huge vat of stew on the bottom, and I think the whole lot of stew now tastes burnt (hard to tell for sure because the whole house smells so bad) :(

Before I chuck it out, is there any way to save it???

and yes, I was on the pc when it happened Blush

Could you transfer the top stuff into another pan, and leave the burnt stuff to soak? Taste it in a wee while and see if you still think it tastes burnt. If it does, add some wine or something and try and disguise it. If it's not completely frazzled, I'm sure the other people eating it won't notice if you don't tell them. Good luck.

Or add the wine to the glasses of the people you intend to drink it....

EAT it.

Oh god, should clearly not have washed my own not very lovely Sunday lunch down with a glass of red, should I Blush

And for your pan you put it back on the heat with some washing up liquid and turn on the hob on low and then come back and scrap of the bottom like you do with gravy.

I agree, transfer the food to another pan, bung some red wine in and chilli for the adults - it'll be fine! Tell 'em it's "smoked"!!

FrannyandZooey · 30/04/2006 17:37

No it REALLY was gross, but thanks.

It's been chucked :(

Take-away.

I just curdled the curry. Made it with milk and put some tomato puree in but now it's curdled, plan to try and save it with sieved flour, if that doesn't work then bugger it, they can have it anyway - I'll have a sandwich! Grin

We were having something else for dinner tonight, anyway. This was just 8 meals worth of food for the freezer. I am fairly far along in the grieving process now. I have passed denial and rage and am cruising through despair.

I only know about the pan because i burn alot, i have given up on trying to save money by buying and trying to cook beans/pulses etc.
