I'm wondering if I can make a similar meal in my oven with it turned down very low. Any ideas what temp would be good.

Thanks

it depends how long you want to cook it for, 120 or 130 degress for 4 hours would be fine for a stew. All day the big problem would be evaporation and it running out of liquid.

My oven has an S on it and I use that for slow cooking, it is lower than gas mark 1/2. I leave things for hours on that but would not do it if there was noone in the house, as we work from home it is fine.

Ahhh I see, do you have to keep topping up a slow cooker with liquid then?

Do you think a tagine in the oven would work the same as a slow cooker? They are designed to keep the mositure in aren't they? I brought one back from Morocco a couple of years ago and never used it!

No because it cooks at such a low temperature, you need less water than normal in a sc.
