Has anyone used herb puree/tubes.

I have seen an advert for herbs in a tube. I think that means they are herb puree or something like that? I rarely buy fresh herbs (even though I know I should keep saying in going to grow them instead). Just wondering if anyone has used them before?

I've recently bought frozen minced garlic and minced ginger from Morrisons in little cardboard box thingies and they are really nice and easy to use.

Same here with the garlic. I never use bulbs these days. No smell on your fingers, no messy cleaning out of garlic press, and always lovely juicy garlic, not dusty old bulbs. I'd use the herb tubes too if they are as good.

I tried the tubes and liked them, but then I read the ingredients and there was a lot of crap I wasn't expecting. Obviously might not be the case for all brands.

I use the Waitrose frozen herbs and never buy fresh except the ones they don't do (like dill). They are a bit pricy, but when I bought fresh I was always throwing away wilted leftovers, and the fresh ones aren't cheap anyway.

I used to use garlic from a jar but have gone back to fresh. Haven't tried frozen -- maybe I should. Fresh is way better than jar when it comes to garlic IMO.

I use garlic from a tube too!

I use garlic, chilli and lemon grass in tubes.

yes, I use the coriander in a tube. It's quite good for squeezing into curries etc but it does contain oil and other stuff, so it wouldn't be much good in salad or as a garnish. I prefer the frozen herbs really.

Yes, didn't like them at all, they are full of other crap that IMHO really spoils the taste - go for frozen, much better all round

Thanks! I will have a closer look at the ingreidents. I use fresh garlic, but always end up wasting a lot of the other herbs if I buy fresh so I think the tubes would be good for me. Would be basil/corriander to be used in curries, sauces and soups rather than salad.

Can you not buy the grow pots of those herbs death ?? I find they last quite well that way - I even replanted them outside & as a bonus they smell lovely & basil keeps insects at bay

I use garlic, ginger I just keep in freezer. Have tried some tubes of coriander, basil etc but didn't taste of much IMO. Maybe other brands might be better.
