popping candy

I am using popping candy as part of some decorations on a cake for my dsis. But I was thinking that it might react with the buttercream icing and dissolve before the party. Will this happen? Any advice?

I'd add the popping candy just before serving, as otherwise, the moisture in the b/cream might start off the popping reaction.

Thanks Hazel I will have a rethink as I really need to make them in advance and then buttercream will have set by the time of serving.

I've found coating it in cooled, melted chocolate first stops it reacting with anything. The chocolate has to be nearly setting though, or they react with the chocolate instead

You can buy it already coated in chocolate, might be easier.
