Meals for someone recovering from bowel surgery

I'm a very average cook. Think pasta, curry, goulash.
A family member is coming out of hospital soon, following bowel surgery.
Does anyone have any experience in cooking meals that would be suitable?

They will be given information on what to eat on discharge. No spicy food or food that's hard to digest. Pasta should be ok, not so sure about curry.
