Not quite sure how it will come out though!! I did the 6oz flour sugar marg mix with three eggs and half a packet of Birds custard mix and a large splash of milk!
I sliced a nearly ripe banana and put half the cake mixture in my loose bottomed round cake tin and then half the sliced banana and then the rest of the mixture and then the rest of the banana and a sprinkling of sugar! I wanted Brown sugar but there wasnt any in the cupboard!
If it comes out ok i will put a picture on my profile!!! Grin

I have bananas to use but alas no custard mix. I shall be hot-footing it to Sainsburys tomorrow though. Yum!

Wonder what Paul and Mary on Bakeoff would make of it!! Grin

Well Mary liked the shortbread with custard powder in it in the Comic relief bake off . Custard powder is only corn flour with colouring and vanilla . When you say instant custard I expect that just contains dried milk as well. I would reduce the flour in the cake by the amount of custard powder it sounds lush !

I have custard powder. In fact I'm so convinced I'm going to love this that I bought a pot rather than a sachet. Rock and roll!

I might have a go at that cake, it sounds gorgeous.

I've had just had a massive slice of Lidl's iced custard brioche for my breakfast! That is lush too!

There is little (sweet) that cannot be improved by the addition of custard.
