It turned out ok really. However it was still a little doughy in the middle what did I do wrong?
I folliwed the recipie that was on the flour packet pretty much. I couldn't have baked it any longer without burning the crust. Any hints?

When you take it out of the oven, tap the bottom. If it is ready it should sound hollow. And tempting as it may be, don't cut it until it is cold.

If the crust is browning before you think the insides are cooked you could loosely cover it in tinfoil. Would help slow the browning!

Try cooking the next one a little longer but at a slightly lower temperature

Cogito might be right, but an alternative is to start the bake at a high temperature , then turn down. I generally bake my loaves at Gas 9 for 15-20 mins, then turn down to Gas 6 for the remainder of the time. Total bake time c.40 mins for a 2lb loaf.
