bread maker - which one?

I've decided to buy a bread maker and so of course now I have to decide which one to buy
Any recommendations gratefully received.

But if you don't like the thick crust you get with a breadmaker, I'd consider buying a food mixer, Andrew James do a well reviewed one that you can purchase on Amazon for £100). You can then mix the dough in it and pop the pans in your oven for a loaf that is more similar to what you'd get from the bakery.

However, for convenience a breadmaker is great, and it is nice to wake up to the smell of bread in the mornings.

I just bought a Panasonic from Amazon. the one with the seed and nut dispenser is on offer at the moment for £109

same here... panasonic, really happy with it, the pizza programme is the one I use the most funnily ;-)

I have been using breadmakers since they first came out. Always Panasonic. Friends have used cheaper ones and then been disappointed with the results and thought that breadmakers are not very good. A breadmaker is a tool...cheap tools are never a good idea.

If you plan to just make white bread, don't bother getting one. I use Dan Lepards recipe for Easy White Bread and you only knead it for about 1 minute altogether and it turns out gorgeous. I haven't tried making any seedy/brown ones though.

I had a Morphy Richards one which was totally crap - but then it only cost three quid from a car boot sale, so I didn't care much.

Now I have another boot sale breadmaker: it's a Kenwood, and the daft mare with too much money, clearly that sold it to me gave it me for a fiver "because it has the paddle missing."

A new paddle cost £6 delivered off Amazon....! A £100 breadmaker for just over a tenner....!!! Brand new, hardly ever used!!! Exclamation marks everywhere!!!!!!

Anyway, the Kenwood is, predictably, very good: solid build, rises dough really well, which is mainly what I want it for.

Mum bought her one round today - it's a Hinari. Should I even bother trying?

Can't hurt, you need flour and yeast anyway if you buy a Panasonic.

for some reason Fluffy I associate Hinari with cheap copy rubbish . I have no idea where I've got that from though.
