Afternoon tea / high tea

Tomorrow I'm doing (at my suggestion, so not sure why I've got no ideas!) afternoon tea for about 20. Idea idiots high tea (ie quite substantial) for the kids and afternoon tea with booze for us. Help! Anyone have any menu/recipe ideas?

Is it cold and snowy where you are? You could do crumpets, toasted tea cakes, scones etc with some nice sandwiches and little cakes??

And make some cocktails in teapots Smile

Ooh I like the cocktail idea

'High tea' for children used to include something like fish fingers - ie a simple 'main course' followed by the scones and cakes.

As an adult I'd want the stuff cat suggested with tea - not sure what booze would go with that sort of food at that time of day TBH.

It sounds like a lovely idea on a cold afternoon.

particularly suitable are long Island Ice Tea and winter Pimms!

Lovely idea - I used to do that lots when DS was young - a great way to see friends & no babysitting costs!

Scones with cream & jam are a big treat!!

Thanks! It's my work team and we all have DCs between 2 and 8!

Brownies and blondies
Hot mini croissants, you can buy them frozen, and bake as both sweet and savoury, with cheese and ham, or cheese and sliced apple/pear

Also one of my guys' fave recipe, get a tin of croissant dough, cut it into strips, twist, sprinkle with crushed Pringles, bake. Utterly fab.
