My dd has always been a fussy eater and since her brother was born she plays up even more, insisting that I feed her like her brother. I did this for a while initially and now seem to spend the whole mealtime coaxing and bribing her to eat whilst she makes excuses like needing the toilet, a different spoon etc etc. Well enough is enough as I'm finding it draining especially as I'm fighting with my 14month old ds who wants to be feeding himself. If she is hungry then she will eat, so we're now trying a new stricter regime. If she doesn't feed herself then the meal is taken away. Anything that does get eaten is praised and if its only a few mouthfuls then thats progress. The thing I'm still struggling with is whether to let her have pudding if she's only eaten say 3 mouthfuls of something. Tonight she had chicken casserole with potato and veg and she ate all the veg and potato first then refused to eat any chicken which is obviously the best bit. I then found it difficult to let her have pudding as she kept refusing to eat the chicken. What do you think I should do - should I have just gone with it? I do feel that she looks at me waiting for a reaction some mealtimes.
