Just for eg: on the box of Strawberries it says that 7 strawberries is a portion. Is that the same for a small child or can you half it?

If you're thinking along the lines of your 5 portions of fruit/veg per day - I heard it was a handful, ie. the child's hand, getting bigger as s/he gets older. HTH

Does it matter? Not meaning to sound judgemental there, but I mean why do you need to measure it? 7 probably does mean for an adult. Are you serving loads of helpings at a party and need to count? If it's for my lo's pudding I just offer fruit till he refuses.

I read it was a handful for the person eating it, so an adult's portion is smaller than a child's portion IYSWIM. I don't meaure though - I just try and be there and there abouts, giving her plenty and a variety.

Doesn't matter as such, just curious. DS is a horrendous eater so I do try to give him as much fruit as he will eat without filling him up so that he wont eat the next meal.......does that make sense? More curious than anything though.

Surely if you give fruit as a pudding he'll only take what he can handle, and will be ready for the next meal when it's due anyway?

I worry more about having a variety of fruit and veg - so try to do more than 5 different varieties per day, and don't worry too much about quantities. I also look at the number of different types of fruit and veg he has over a week, and try and ensure that there are plenty of each type e.g. citrus, green veg, berries etc. DS is a poor eater of fruit and veg, so I do worry about it more than I need to.
