Does anyone else have a condiment obsession?

They're taking over my kitchen, which admittedly isn't very big,but even so I have far more things to put on food, than I have food.I do use them all,but I think I may still be a tad too obsessed.

I barely resisted the urge to buy some Persian blue salt yesterday at the local butchers, but did come away with some black Lampong pepper.

My SIL often comments on my collection of.condiments. In fact, she has been known to open the fridge or cupboard and just gaze at them.

YANBU. They make a meal.

My DH is a condiment hoarder:

mustard - at least eight varieties
salt - four varieties
pepper - only Tellicherry will do
pickles - in double figures
sauces- too many to count
oils - sunflower, walnut, sesame, olive, virgin olive, dipping
vinegar - six varieties
pesto - four green and three red

and thats before you start on the herbs and spices shelf, and the fact that I'm too short to see to the back of the top shelf.

Herbs and spices shelf?! Pah! We have a herbs and spices cupboard plus the shelf in the fridge with mustards, pickles, pesto etc

this is normal
it's the folk with just a bottle of heinz ketchup and some Branston who are the real freaks.

The benefits are that it attracts other frustrated michelin star wannabes , the side effect being lots of lovely food being cooked,

It's just kitchen porn, which makes people easy to buy for,

and it all has to be stored in kilner jars.

do you also have an extensive collection of honeys?

I love my sauces.

I have to have mayo, salad cream and ketchup all Heinz, HP brown and sweet chilli, I'm not to bothered about salt and pepper just the usual will do. I like horseradish with beef, mint sauce with braising steak, and apple with turkey, pork or chicken. Plus Henderson on cheese on toast. I cool from scratch but need these sauces too.

Growing up my dad was really funny about us having sauces that 'didn't go' so now I'm in charge I go a bit mad!
