Silverside beef joint

Can you slow cook this joint or is it better to roast? I've never cooked it before. Anyone got any tried and tested recipes? If so, please let me know of your recipes. Thanks.

Better to slow cook than roast, it's a pretty tough cut.

Silverside is brilliant in a slow-cooker. Roughly chop a couple of carrots and an onion, and put the beef on top. Cook on low for about 8 hours. Really tender and succulent result!

Thanks so much. Do I need to put any liquids in? Or even brown it first?

Nope. It really is that easy. I usually lightly-oil the slow-cooker first, but even that isn't essential. And the juices make a lovely gravy, though I confess to adding Bisto.
