Soda bread

I have made soda bread in the past and even with my poor baking skills, it seemed to worked out okay. With the new year etc etc I thought that it would be good to start making it regularly rather than relying on the shops for normal bread, just because it is so quick.
I just wondered if there are others out there who have more experience or recipe ideas. I would like to use it for sandwiches / rolls as a savoury alternative to normal yeast bread.
Also, does it work by replacing buttermilk with milk + lemon juice?

I had a spate of soda bread making - it's so good Smile - and used natural yoghurt & milk instead of buttermilk. Worked perfectly.

I try to keep a batch of the dried ingredients mixed in a jar and then mix up about 90g of dried with 60ml (I think, would need to check) of yogurt/milk mixture to make bread rolls in a muffin tin. I've also used a mixture of milk, cream and lemon juice when I didn't have yogurt and it worked fine, perhaps didn't taste quite as good. I find it really useful to have it all ready to go because I make it when I realise that I've run out of bread, a very frequent occurrence in this house.
