Anyone recommend one? Dh is into cooking nice joints then having leftovers for sandwiches which is brilliant but we never slice it thing enough.

Also what do you think of it as a bday present? Bit weird but people have been giving women kitchen things as presents for years right?

I would always go with a Lakeland product. Their customer service is second to none, you can return it if you change your mind at any time - no limit.

Worth any extra in the price IMHO

I have this one. I'm really happy with it and it slices cooked meats and bread very well. The Lakeland one is a bit more powerful though, but I've had no problems with the argos one.
