Congratulations!!! Which colour?

A celebratory cake?

TunipTheVegedude · 06/01/2013 19:57

Can you knead dough with it? Make bread.

ChippingInLovesChristmasLights · 06/01/2013 19:58

Need more details - it's important to know what colour it is.

Xmas Grin

Though if DH bought it, maybe he should be using it Xmas Wink

mablemurple · 06/01/2013 20:01

a whole bunch of cupcakes, then make some swiss buttercream icing to go on the top.

Doilooklikeatourist · 06/01/2013 20:02

Cake ( any sort , you choose ) I like a proper Victoria Sponge
Bread , my new year resolution is to make bread, not buy it
Meringue , Swiss roll , Roulade
Scones , Pizza Dough ...
The list is endless

Doilooklikeatourist · 06/01/2013 20:04

I bought myself a Kenwood in the sales and made a delicious chocolate cake for DS's 4th birthday yesterday, plus some pizza dough with the dough hook for his party. All from Jo Wheatley's book (winner of last year's Great British Bake Off) which I had been drooling over for ages.

Are there any cooks you really like eg Nigella, Mary Berry etc who have got a nice cake recipe you can start with?

I was nervous before I used mine but my NY resolution is to use it once a week - I always think that if you want to really use something, you have to use it IYKWIM? :)

Good luck!

ILoveTIFFANY · 06/01/2013 20:49

Jo wheatleys book is great!

I got one too in black Grin

Had left over cream after Xmas so my first christening in it was a Swiss roll covered in ganache. Was effortless in beating the eggs and sugar which normally takes 10 mins with the hand held electric whisk.

Karbea · 06/01/2013 21:38

He'd originally got it in truffle black, but it looked very brown on my black work top, so today it was replaced by a silver one. I wanted bubblegum pink.

It looks so pretty even in grey. :)

I'm scared to use it!

I got one too. I made bagels yesterday and had planned to make lime biscuits today but haven't got round to it yet (it's only 4.42pm here so it's not completely too late...)

I am already coveting an ice cream maker attachment.

What else can I do with it that I wouldn't have thought of?

Karbea · 06/01/2013 22:01

Did you get a cookbook with yours?

Meringues are the best in a kitchen aid. Am also enjoying my Xmas presents of a grater / slicing attachment and butter and sugar creaming paddle Smile

It's probably sacrilegious, but I used mine to make play dough at the weekend!

Furball · 07/01/2013 20:51
