Slow cooker question about roasting whole chicken

JamNan · 06/01/2013 15:02

Newbie slow cooker-user here (4-days).
OK it's been in the SlowCooker since this morning and smells luffly. I used a small organic free-runner chicken and placed it on a bed of leeks and celery with a little water and a stock cube (recipe said scrunch up balls of tin foil but I don't fancy doing that much). I've got it on high but the top of the bird looks white and uncooked even though I still have 2 hours to go. Due to serve at 6pm.

Should I turn it over? Will it brown? Will I poison the family because it looks so uncooked on the breast? Help someone...

please

no it won't brown - it needs to go in the oven for that

I won't brown, but it will taste lovely, I do this all the time

I would brown in the oven for around 20 mins

Slow cookers don't make things brown and crispy

Oh thanks Fergoose, I just put a knife in the breast and it was perfectly cooked. Have turned it down now to low and will take off the the skin before serving.
