Oh my god my slow cooker stinks!

Just bought it, thoroughly washed it as instructed and put the makings of beef stew in... Turned it to high (??) and 10 minutes later the kitchen absolutely reeks... Not of beef stew! Am I doing something wrong??

I remember one of ours did this, but it's the base creating the smell not the food part. I think it's the same with a lot of new electrical items, my husband says it the grease and oil used in assembling the parts. It should affect your food and the smell will dissipate as you use it more.

Mine did this too for a while when it was new but it's fine now.

Sorry it SHOULDN'T affect your food!
