Clary · 17/04/2006 22:05

DS2 is my nearest to you (he's just 3)
he ate toast with jam and grapes an dmilk. Ignored his requested rice krispies.
Then roll with ham and tomatoes and cucumber, more grapes and lots of Easter egg.
Then chicken (dipped in egg and breadcrumbs and fried) and pasta and carrots. More Easter egg Blush well it is Easter Monday!
Is that any help?

lact8 · 17/04/2006 22:06

\not much help i'm afraid as my DSs ate mostly easter eggs today! Smile

There are loads of MNers who make fantastic food for their kids so I'm sure someone will be along soon who can actually help Grin

But, did find with DS2 (2yrs) that he prefers to graze all day rather than have 3 big meals. I give him carrot and cucumber and dip, rice cakes, fruit, dried fruit in between and give him small helpings at meal times.

Chandra · 17/04/2006 22:06

Reducing snacks may help, same goes for milk before meals. But it may also be a phase that will pass soon.

DS is ow 3 yrs and I don't remeber quite well what was he eating but we just concentrated in trying to get him to eat a small portion of protein, 2 vegetables and a portion of carbs per meal, and he was fine. He had a long phase on which he was practically living of air, but curiously, he was more chubby than other children his age, so I suppose he didn't need to eat that much...

Sparklemagic · 17/04/2006 22:43

ds (3 yrs old) ate:
Breakfast: egg with soldiers and some of a bowl of weetabix
snack: a kinder egg left from yeserday
Lunch: a mackerel fillet with cucumber (I WANT to make kedgeree for him but he won't touch it, so I give him the mackerel on it's own as it's so good for him!)
snack: houmous with breadsticks
dinner: Tuna pasta followed by 3 fromage frais

Some days he eats more, some less. I definitely have noticed a fussiness creeping in - he doesn't want things like caluiflower cheese that he used to eat no question, also has to be encouraged with bribes to eat broccoli which he used to stuff down...

I think it's about being creative with how you offer the food (ie green beans are worms and pasta shells are snails etc), and I say things like "you can have pudding if you eat one whole piece of broccoli". This does work. Also I feel the crux of it is to keep offering what I want him to eat, and I feel he will just eat up one day when fussy toddlerdon is behind him! I have read a thread on here where a couple of people said that once their kids were 5 or 6 they suddently started wolfing down their food again....

lanismum · 17/04/2006 22:49

hulababy · 18/04/2006 20:41

Not sure today as she was at PIls. However, as an idea of what she normally has on non-nursery days -

Saturday
Breakfast: eggy bread
Lunch: ham sandwich, strips of peppers and cucmber, lump of cheese, cherry tomatoes, spoonful of sweetcorn
Snack: raisins
Dinner: chicken and leek pie, mash, broccolli, carrots and cauliflower
Dessert: raindbow fruit kebabs with milk chocolate dip, strawberry dip and a youghurt and honey dip

Sunday
Breakfast: a slice of toast and a boiled egg; and some chocolate Easter egg!
Lunch: (ate out) gammon, rice, peas and onion bread; also some of DH's chicken fajita and chips
Dinner: psta and pesto
Dessert: rest of that small chocolate egg

On nursery days DD ends up with two proper meals. One at lunch time at nursery and another at home with me and DH. Chocolate is often her dessert, but she eats so well and pretty varied that I have no problem with that.

Gingerbear · 18/04/2006 20:45

my DD is almost 4 and lives on carbs, broccoli and ham or sausage most days.

Clary · 18/04/2006 21:45

hula that's a fab menu, loads of FAVUs and plenty of variety. What a star yr DD is!
(sorry, just realised I posted something similar on another thread on another subject. I am not your (or DD's) creepy stalking fan, honest! Smile)

hulababy · 19/04/2006 17:58

She is just a greedy so and so and loves her food. She had three portions of dinner at nursery today!

alison222 · 19/04/2006 19:04

DD (3) had shreddies and raisins for breakfast,
fruit mid morning (at playgroup so not sure but think grapes tangerine & banana)
Philadelphia and chorizo sandwich with pine nuts avacado and cherry tomato for lunch followed by more fruit
she skipped an afternoon snack and had sausages, baked potato and broccoli, carrots and sweetcorn for tea followed by easter egg

DS(5) had same breakfast and tea, banana mid morning and sandwich, custard, biscuit for lunch and a biscuit mid afternoon.

Not the most typical day but they always eat loads of veg and fruit.

snafu · 19/04/2006 19:12
