Hi,

I am planning to make an Octonauts cake for my son's 5th birthday party (any ideas welcome!) but am a bit worried about using loads of blue food colouring. Is it really very bad for children?

I made an Octonauts cake for DS - the main cake was a White iceberg with sugerpaste figures of Peso, Kwazi & Captain Barnacles sitting on top. This meant the bit they actually ate wasn't too highly coloured.

It's not bad, no. Why would you think it is?
You only need a few drops of blue and green for sea blue anyway. You can get wonderful icing cake toppers printed on Ebay with all the characters and mailed for a few quid - highly recommended. My Octonauts-obsessed 4yo was delighted.

Just worried about all those chemicals I hear go into the food colourings...

Thanks for the ideas - looking forward to getting creative!
