I'm making dessert for our friend's NYE dinner party.

Poached pears. Either in red wine, cider or white wine. Serve with creme fresh. Dead easy. You should be able to Google a recipe. Genuinely impressive our.

Mary Berrys Velvet Chocolate Torte.

Even I get that one right.

Jamie Oliver's bloomin brilliant chocolate brownies. Very easy to make. Recipe's on the t'internet and was done for a Comic Relief book, so one for the DCs to help with too.

Cut into pieces, pile onto a nice plate.

Sprinkle with icing sugar and edible glitter, shove in some small sparklers and light as you take to the table.

Serve with cream and ice cream.

Chocolate pavlova.
Pre-heat oven to 180 c
6 egg whites, stiff peaks
300g caster sugar, beat in a spoon at a time
Sprinkle over 3tbsp cocoa, 1 tbsp balsamic vinegar and 50g chopped dark choc. Fold in gently.
Pile in approx 8 inch circle on grease proof on baking tray
Put in oven and immediately turn down to 150c
Hour and a quarter. Leave to cool in open oven.
Take meringue to party separately from big tub of double cream, whipped, and a couple of punnets of raspberries. Assemble when you get there.
V easy, always goes down well, always successful.

It has gotta be Boozy Trifle for new year....it's the law in our house anyway.

noddyholder · 30/12/2012 15:16

Definitely trifle

I am making bread and butter pudding, but using pannetone (sp?), dates, banana and lots of raisins in it. Served with butterscotch sauce (equal parts cream, dark brown sugar and butter heated together).

Thank you all for your replies, forgot I posted Blush

Have gone with a salted caramel, hazelnut, and chocolate tart, served with raspberries, cream, glitter and little sparklers, ooh and some piped white chocolate decorations. Pretty OTT, but it is New Year's Eve! :)
