help with chicken - dd turned oven off and guests here now

Can anyone please help? I have guests over for a sunday roast chicken - but dd turned the oven off (despite being told to NEVER touch it) and so my question is: can I accelerate the roasting time by microwaving the chicken first for a bit? Or will this give us all salmonella? (it is a free range organic bird)

If it is more than half cooked I would pull meat off bones and toss in olive oil and seasoning and grill it thoroughly, until the edges of the pieces are crispy. Pre-heat grill while you take meat off bones.

If it is less than half cooked I really wouldn't risk it with guests. Also it would be very hard to get off the bone.

Someone else may know otherwise, but it is a horrible thing to lie awake at night wondering if you have given anyone foodpoisoning

Thanks - I'll wait until half cooked and then follow your advice. Unless they are happy to keep on drinking for a bit longer.

Good luck
Get the grill nice and hot and make sure any juices run clear before serving,
A bit of garlic flavour mayonnaise (even hellmans) may help to detract from the improptu nature of the dish and bind it together
