I have a beef joint that needs cooking in the slow cooker (oven will be full of other meats/potatoes etc)....but when should I do it? I normally would put it on low in the morning and take out in the evening evening but were wanting to eat at 1pm Xmas day. The joint is 1.5kg, if we put it in at 9am on high would it be done by 1pm? I'm tempted to put it on low at midnight tomorrow and take it out at 8am Xmas day but it might burn maybe? Help!!

Can't say anything helpful about cooking it on high for 5 hours, but it won't burn if you follow plan B and put it on low at midnight, if you put it on top of a roughly chopped onion and a couple of roughly chopped carrots. You'll end up with lots of lovely juices to make gravy, too. :)
