Does rum go off?

Just making my rum balls and have dusted off a bottle of rum that I must have bought about 3 years ago. Do you think it would be okay to use? Can't see a use by date on the bottle. Can't face the shops to buy any new stuff and I'm half way through making my balls...

No, it doesn't go off but you'd better drink some to check.

It sounds to me as if you may need to do some sampling to check Xmas Grin. No idea if rum goes off

Does rum go off?

Not in our house it doesn't Xmas Grin But seriously was the bottle already opened? I don't know if rum would oxidise like wine. Deffo sample some to see if it's alright.

Thanks for your replies. Sorry I should have said I had sampled it, but my tastebuds have been corrupted so can't taste a thing. My 4 yr old stuck her fingers in my mouth (as you do Xmas Hmm) that are covered in anti-nail bitting solution. Horrid stuff - I can't taste anything now - not good news for the days cooking ahead! I am going to risk the rum! Smells ok.

Rum will be fine - I've used older spirits than that in cooking.
