Have bought DH a Panasonic stainless steel breadmaker for Christmas.

Have put tub of yeast in his stocking. Panasonic recipes book is in box however, what do I need to have in the store cupboard for hime to make bread straightaway?

Thank you

Strong bread flour (white, brown or wholemeal), butter (you can use oil), salt, sugar, water.

That's for your basic yummy loaf. Oh and more butter to eat with it Xmas Grin

sugar too. can also substitute butter for olive oil if you prefer.

I am partial to a seed-studded loaf, so I'd include a pack each of sunflower and pumpkin seeds. If you n find malt extract, there's a recipe for a lush malt loaf in the Panasonic cookbook.

Breadmaker 'Fast Acting' yeast is usually in sachets rather than tubs so do check you've wrapped up the right stuff. For convenience I'd recommend getting him some ready-made mixes for machines. There are things like sun-dried tomato and parmesan, brioche, granary.

I use these tins of yeast for machine bread making, easier than the sachets and cheaper too.

my breadmaker needs dried milk, salt, sugar, butter, yeast, and of course proper bread flour. Also can add seeds if you like them.
Also need a decent measuring jug for right amount of water!

You need easy bake yeast for a breadmaker, not dried yeast.

My panasonic doesnt need milk powder (good job as I'm allergic to it) but needs salt, sugar, oil etc.

If you know the model number the manual will be downloadable off panasonics website and will have all the recipes in it eg some use passata or onion or mixed fruit.
